IT'S A

MIRACLE....

A PERSONAL STORY BY DANA...

As many of you have known my daughter has been in jail with an ICE hold because she is a Canadian Citizen and had some previous charges against her...which has placed her in custody for the past 10 months. My Sister who is an attorney however is not involved in Criminal Law or even immigration law stepped in to represent her and take on a legal battle which would give anyone heartburn or a heart attack! She has been working on all the legal issues day and night and yesterday with the help of the higher power and my sister and her persistence my daughter Erica was released...
When she walked through the doors in the jail the emotion was overwhelming...
We had no idea this would happen so quickly and that she would be home for the holidays... we have been blesssed with a Judge who has reviewed and followed this case and by some Miracle with everything just right signed the paperwork to release her....
The embrace of my daughter who has been an inmate for over a year total and her Aunt who has saved her life with her family here in the UNITED STATES....
My Granddaughter wrote a letter to Santa
and said all she wanted was her mom to be home for CHRISTMAS....
she can't believe it...
NEVER GIVE UP....
NEVER LOSE HOPE...

The time we spend with family is so precious...

NOTHING ELSE COULD BE BETTER

So my Thanksgiving Message to all of you

my dear friends....

Never lose hope and remember to

hang on to your faith and hope....

Cherish you family and show

love and kindness always....

As I run around like a Chicken with it's head cut off

and the kids are screaming,the milk is spilt, the phone is ringing, and the doorbell is going off, the kids are running and screaming, the kitchen timer is going off.... the potatoes are boiling over.....SIGH!!!!

LIFE IS GOOD

I LOVE MY CHILDREN...

they love me...

I LOVE MY HUSBAND...

he loves me....

AND I ADORE MY 9 GRANDKIDS...

Mixed Blessings

This is a fun idea
for your Thanksgiving Dinner table favors.

Each is filled with the items listed below.
Wrap in celophane bags and tie with ribbons and bows,
place card on each with the Thanksgiving message attached.

If you would like to stop by and pick up a card with the message attached
so you can make your favors, we have a sample ready for you to pick up
and make copies for your guests.

A Mix of Blessings

BUGLES: Each is shaped as a Conucopia or Horn of Plenty to remind us of our ancestors and our heritage and that our lives are filled with blessings.
PRETZELS: They represent our arms folded in prayer to give thanks.
CANDY CORN: A lesson on Frugality. During the first winter the pilgrims were each allotted only 5 kernels of corn per day because the food was so scarce. The next year was a bounty as ours can be.
DRIED FRUIT: Thanksgiving is the celebration of the harvest from the field and trees. Preserve harvest for times of need and share.
NUTS & SEEDS: Seeds represent future hope and promise, the potential of a bounteous harvest for the next season if they are planted and well tended.
THE MIX: We are each given a unique combination of blessings. Give thanks and enjoy them!!

he works after school cutting and assembling kits....

Being mulit-talented with sports and spending time with family makes him a well rounded kid.
A weekend with Grandkids means
cooking and cleaning
may as well teach them young....

And had lots of fun

Friends and members of the

guild enjoyed the event

And of course the whole time Dana was working

DB was enjoying the quilt show...

after all his job was done unloading!

And now for the real news the power outage!

The entire SO CAL without power...

The quilt show shut down...

No restaurants open...

And now for the real kicker...
I had my handy first aid kit which now is referred to as the

72 HOUR EMERGENCY KIT

When you are on the 23 floor with

no power, no water and no toilet

the little light in the kit saved the day or

the night!
The Marriot on the Bay was a beautiful resort however when the power is out it is just a room...

And the 23 floor was great until you have to use the stairs no elevators...

Cut two pieces for front and back from

main print and lining
Remember when you cut out main bag move closest to selvage to keep the fold area for your pocket piece.

Stitch pocket to lining about 3"

from top of bag or opening

Stitch main print back to front right sides together and lining pieces right sides together. Leave the opening open . Turn main print right side out and press. Fold down and press 1/2" on both outside print and lining print so you can finish and close bag.

Front of bag should be pressed

and top edge pressed under 1/2"

Stitch strap pieces right side together and reach inside and turn right side out!

Press seams flat and double top stitch!

Place liner fabric inside main bag print. Find center of strap line up with side seams and pin all the way around the opening of bag.

Stitch in place and double top stitch!

See how the strap lies between the layers.

Stitch along edge and then another top stitch to give a double top stitch!

See how edges line up!

Tie a knot and hold on...

Chicken with Capers, Mushrooms and Artichoke Hearts

4-6 chicken breasts boneless, skinless

1 tsp. lemon pepper

1 tsp salt

1 tsp. garlic salt

1/2 cup butter

2-3 Tbsp. Oil

1 pint heavy whipping cream

2 Tbsp. capers

Parmesan Cheese

1 can artichoke hearts

8 oz. fresh mushroom (sliced)

Cook chicken in 1/4 cup butter with oil til brown and cooked through
Remove chicken and keep juice in pan add additional butter and saute the mushrooms til cooked add the diced artichokes, cream and parmesan cheese. Cook on low til bubbly add capers and chicken. I diced my chicken up before cooking. Serve over angel hair pasta tossed with butter and parmesan cheese....

IN TRAINING

Hannah my granddaughter is

working on a quilt to enter in the

Road to California Quilt Show

in January

MINKY BINDING TUTORIAL
After finishing your top you are ready to apply binding

Binding strips are cut 2" wide
You need 4 strips for throw size 50x60
5 strips for large throw

Join strips together diagonally

Begin on top side of quilt leaving about 8"

Mitering the corners

Stitch to the corner.

Remove and fold binding strip

away from you lining up the edges

Then fold binding forward you making a

true 45 degree angle again lining up the seam.

Begin stitching to secure the corner

and continue stitching down the sides...

Remember all seams are 1/4"

Corners are easy if you follow the steps.

When you have stitched and arrive about 12-18 " from completing stop and cut your beginning strip leaving about 6- 8" (this will not be stitched down)

Bring the piece which will line up to beginning strip and finger press where the seam would line up if you placed it down flat... Cut away from the finger press the width of binding in this case 2" see I have cut away excess and you can see I have left 2" from where the binding lines up to lay flat.

Stitch the two binding strip ends

together diagonally

Trim away excess to 1/4"

Lay flat and stitch to complete binding

Then turn and hand stitch on the wrong side of fabric. Minky will roll under as you stitch to finish the edge.

My Granddaughter Hannah's Surprise Party

didn't know if was going

to be a surprise for me too!

After a trip to Arizona

with 7 of my 9 grandkids

here's what is happening at the cottage...

They look like angels?

However, looks can be deceiving!
besides the temperature over 115

the business of 7 kids ...5 under 4yrs old

rose the temperature even higher....

SIMPLE AND CHARMING

Made from pre-cut 10" squares
Minky Backing and binding included

and a great throw
about 58x68

Delicious Peach Dessert
2 pkg graham crackers crushed
3/4 cup melted butter
3/4 cup white sugar
Mix and press about half in 9x13 pan.
Keep the rest for topping.
Filling
4 1/2 cup mini white marshmallows
1/4 cup milk
Melt in micro til smooth...Cool.

Mix 1 pint heavy whipping cream
1/4-1/2 cup sugar (pwd)
add 4 oz. cream cheese
Whip cream add sugar and cream cheese.
Blend in cooled marshmallow mix.
Pour half in 9x13 pan over crust.
Layer sliced peaches or other fruit.
Top with rest of cream mixutre and top with crust. Refridgerate and serve!

OOH LA LA RUFFLE PILLOWS

BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN BREAST

4-6 chicken breasts pounded and flattened

6 sliced thick sliced bacon (i used a pepper type)
6 thin sliced swiss cheese

lemon pepper seasoning

garlic salt

seaon salt

fresh ground pepper
season the chicken with seasoning lay swiss cheese on top and roll up cover with bacon strips close with toothpicks... Grill on Barbecue setting low turning continuously to cook through!

Dinner is Served!
NOT BAD FOR A GIRL WHO WORKS ALL DAY...

EVERYDAY!

Italian Tomato Salsa

1 cup canola oil

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

4 TBSP. sugar

1 tsp. salt

feshly ground pepper

3 whole green onions chopped

1/4 cup parsley

18 fresh basil leaves

1/4 tsp. thyme

2 cloves minced garlic

2 lbs. tomatoes chopped

Mix together and chill. Slice baguette and brush with olive oil. Broil while hot rub with fresh sliced garlic cloves. Serve with Tomato marinate!
